Mendocino County Divorce Records

Divorce (dissolution) actions in Mendocino County seek to terminate the marital union of two people and assign responsibilities, rights, and liabilities as provided under the law. Such actions are heard in the Family Law Division of the Mendocino County Superior Court. The resulting case information and records are presumed public under the California Rules of Court, rule 2.500 et seq., provided the requested data is not publicly exempt by law or judicial rule.

Individuals seeking certified copies of dissolution records through the court system in Mendocino County can complete the Research Request form, Form MMC-900, and submit it via mail or in person to the Clerk of Court's Office. It costs $15 per certified copy for public requests. Certain divorce case metadata may also be viewed through the Superior Court's re:SearchCA portal for free, but researchers should note that actual divorce case documents can only be inspected in person at public kiosks within any of the local courthouse locations, in person at the Clerk's Office public counter, or via written request forwarded to the Clerk.
